The Cosy Tearoom sits quietly on Linlithgow’s High Street, offering a warm welcome to anyone looking for a calm spot to pause their day. This is clearly a neighbourhood cafe where locals come to enjoy well-made coffee and familiar, comforting cakes without fuss. The compact space has a homely vibe, made all the more inviting by the friendly duo who run it and the gentle hum of casual conversations or a book being read.

The cafe’s coffee draw stands out, especially for those who appreciate a flat white with a strong, consistent character — the exclusive Kimbo beans here lend a richness well respected by regulars. Paired with their homebaked cakes, like the Victoria sponge or the lemon blueberry sponge, it feels like a deliberate treat rather than just a quick caffeine stop.

Visitors often settle in for light lunches too; the toasties—ranging from ham, cheese and chutney to the more seasonal haggis, chilli and cheese—and homemade soups offer a satisfying midday option. They’re the kind of dishes that fit the day’s slower pace, especially on a chilly afternoon when a bowl of butternut or mushroom soup warms both body and mood.

The atmosphere is quietly lively without being rushed. This feels like the sort of place where you might drop in alone with a newspaper, meet a friend for a long catch-up, or pick up a pot of tea and a scone to enjoy while watching the passers-by. It’s well-suited to locals who value genuinely made food and drinks, accompanied by attentive, unpretentious service where nothing is too much trouble.

Besides refreshments, the shop window offers a glimpse of tasteful, small homewares—mugs, teacups, candles—that reflect the cafe’s understated charm and hint at an eye for simple, personal touches. Early afternoons during weekdays seem ideal for those wanting to beat the weekend crowd and catch a moment of quiet, while weekends bring a pleasant buzz of families and friends enjoying a casual outing in Linlithgow.

Recommended to us by a friend and he didn't disappoint! Top scones, tasty soup and great homebakes. Run by friendly and highly competent people who know a bit about customer service

Simply the best, better than all the rest... We’ve been coming to The Cosy Tearoom for several years now, and it’s still our favourite cafe in Linlithgow. Sheena's coffee is second to none - she has the exclusive on Kimbo beans in town - and her flat white is the gold standard by which we now measure all others. Sheena’s cakes are always freshly baked using excellent ingredients. The millionaire’s shortbread is outstanding, and her layered cakes are just as tempting – so much so that I’ve made it a mission to work my way through them all. The lunch menu is consistently high quality, with delicious homemade soups that change regularly and a great selection of sandwiches and toasties. Inside, it’s warm and inviting, with a small number of tables that add to the cosy charm – worth booking ahead, especially if you’re planning to enjoy an Afternoon Tea. The décor is tasteful and warm. Best of all, Sheena herself is a delight – always friendly, welcoming, and genuinely interested in her customers. The Cosy Tearoom isn't just a café; it's a Linlithgow gem that consistently delivers excellence. Simply the best!

Lovely little lunch of a toastie and homemade soup. The two ladies were brilliant, with nothing being too much hassle. Everything is home made and delightful, the question is, do I go for a cake?

Stopped here for lunch today- lovely little place. We had haggis and cheese toastie and a ham & cheese toastie and both were delicious. We intended just getting toasties but got drawn in by the fantastic selection of homemade cakes- both Millionaires and rocky road were excellent! Had to offset the cakes by a walk round the loch, but well worth it. No photos of the cakes as we ate them too quickly!

Good...very, very good. Delightful place with delicious things to eat. Excellent lentil soup and egg sandwich, proper loose leaf tea and 12 out of 10 for such a gorgeous slice of cake. We also enjoyed the castle and loch...so a wonderful day out.

My wife and I really enjoyed the freshly made lentil soup served with a thick slice of brown bread. The lady owner was a lovely host and great fun to talk with. Big mention for the dark chocolate and ginger tiffin tray bake, absolutely delicious.
